I've talked a little bit about how Las Vegas incorporated Disneyland-style theming on an urban scale and how other cities have followed the lead. Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is also a notable example of extensive theming on a urban, cosmopolitan scale. As per on a national scale, China has been known to host hundreds of theme parks and tourist resorts, often integrating the two.
Instead of talking about mere theming with regards to the urban landscape, we are talking about a fusion of themed resorts with attractions. This harkens back to a project Disney was involved with in the 1960's, Mineral King, because the resort was fittingly themed to a wintry chalet while simultaneously offering a handful of attractions befitting the motif of the resort. The one notable attraction proposed for this project was the Country Bear Jamboree, which would later be seen in Walt Disney World (1971), Disneyland (1972), and Tokyo Disneyland (1983). The point is that instead of designing another Frontierland or Adventureland, the next step in this boom of themed entertainment and design will ultimately be to weld resort hotels, attractions, and shopping districts to convey a singular theme and to immerse guests in that environment.
Rides, shops, arcades, bars, restaurants, hotels, pools, mini-golf courses, and other amenities would be tied to a certain setting and provide a unique experience.
